This past Friday the 8th, I had the pleasure of meeting Dynel & Ovi who performed at Club Coco Bongo in NJ. The upcoming duo from Philadelphia made sure to get the crowd pumped with their awesome sound!
Bionica: Can you tell me a little bit about your style.
Dynel & Ovi: Well, we have been giving reggaeton our all for the past two years. We began recording about a year ago and have released some songs via the web. We're making some nice music for everyone, the Latino community and all those who like to listen to something good.
Bionica: How long have you been working together?
Dynel & Ovi: We've been working together for a year now and we're just getting started.
Bionica: How did you meet?
Dynel & Ovi: Well, we met at work. We're mechanics and began working together at a company called Gamesa. We became friends and it all went from there.
Bionica: What did your parents say when you told them you wanted to sing?
Dynel & Ovi: (Dynel) I come from a very Christian family, so does he. They're very strict, however they support us in everything but at the same time, you know how parents are...they don't really like this environment but it is what it is. (Ovi) My mom is a heartfelt Christian, but she does support me in everything and knows that I'm doing this for the better. She said to me "Son, if this is something that you want to do, go for it, I wish you all the best."
Bionica: How did you get around to recording? What steps did you take?
Dynel & Ovi: The first time that we recorded, it was in our friend's studio. We had the opportunity to pay to record and so we did a serrucho in which we both pooled together some money & we were able to record our first song.
Bionica: Do you have an album out or is it something that you're still working on?
Dynel & Ovi: We have a song out called Sólo Bastó una Mirada (One Look Was All It Took) and it's on FlowHot.Net It did well and people continue to support it. We have another song that will debut today called No Soy Responsable (I'm Not Responsible).
Bionica: Can you tell me who you're wearing today?
Dynel & Ovi: (Ovi) Today we have a Guess hoodie with pants by Marc Eckó and of course the Supras. (Dynel) I'm wearing a Dolce & Gabanna jacket, pants by Dior–you already know fresh to death <laughs.> The shirt is by a brand called Us Versus Them and my hat is by them too.
Thank you so much to Dynel & Ovi!!!
