Foundation For Letters

La semana pasada tuve el honor de asistir a la gala de Foundation for Letters (fundación por las letras) en el edificio de IAC en NY

Foundation for Letters fue creado por Mike Jackson en el 2002
con la meta de llevar programas de lectura a las comunidades urbanas en NY
Estos programas han servido para mejorarle la vida a muchos adolescentes
que han tenido el apoyo para dar lo mejor de ellos y así hacer un cambio
positivo en el mundo através de la educación

Marley Dias es una de esas personas que esta dejando su huella en el mundo
través de su esfuerzo para reunir 1000 libros que llevan a la mujer morena como protagonista
Con tan solo 11 años, esta jovencita pudo conseguir mas de 4000 libros, los que han sido donado a la Retreat en Jamaica

Aquí comparto con ustedes algunas fotos de este gran evento celebrando la importancia de la educación

Last week I was honored to attend the Foundation for Letters Gala at IAC building in NY
Foundation for Letters was created by Mike Jackson in 2002 with the goal
of bringing forth literary programs to urban communities in NY
These programs have turned around and touched the lives of so many children
that have been given the encouragement of working to their full potential
so that they too may make a difference in the world via the power of education

One cool kid making her mark is Marley Dias, who pledged to collect and donate 1,000 books that feature black girls as the main characters, at 11 years old, Marley has been able to collect more than 4,000 books, many of which have been donated to Retreat School in Jamaica
